Martin Gayford is an art historian and art critic. He spent 250 hours sitting for Lucian Freud and wrote about the experience in Man with a Blue Scarf. He’s written two books with David Hockney, A Bigger Message: Conversations with David Hockney and A History of Pictures: From Cave to Computer Screen. He has just released a book on sculpture, Shaping the World, with Antony Gormley. He’s also written a biography of Van Gough, The Yellow House and Michelangelo, Michelangelo: His Epic Life. Maitreyabandhu will be interviewing him about his life, his relationships with contemporary artists and the meaning and purpose of art.
