Meditation at the London Buddhist Centre

We teach classes for both newcomers to meditation and those with a regular meditation practice. The two main practices we teach are the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana. These practices focus on developing calmness, integration, positive emotion and insight into our human potential. All the classes listed below run on a drop-in basis (i.e. there is no need to book) and are free, although donations are welcome.

New to meditation?

Buddhism is a practical path of human development. We use many methods on that path - practising friendship, and cultivating the arts, for example - but one of the most ‘direct’ ways of working on the mind is through meditation. Anyone can come and try meditation, and get a taste of a life of ever-deepening meaning.

You can read or watch more about the two practices we teach here below - but the best way to learn is directly from a teacher, and along with others. So scroll down further to see what classes you might come and try.

The Mindfulness of Breathing

The Metta Bhavana (the cultivation of loving-kindness)

Already know the practices?

We also run classes for people who have learned the stages of the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditations with us. That’s all you need in order to come to these sessions for regular meditators - to be able to remember the stages of the practices as taught within the Triratna Buddhist Community.

The sessions listed below will give you tips for taking your practice further, and are a good way to stay in touch with others doing the same.
